Chelsea have agreed terms with Real Madrid for the signing of striker Alvaro Morata, the Premier League club have announced.
The Spanish striker was widely expected to join Manchester United this summer before the Red Devils recruited Romelu Lukaku from under the noses of Antonio Conte’s men.
It is believed the Blues are prepared to shell out £75million to land the 24-year-old and break the club’s previous transfer record, when they signed Fernando Torres for £50million in 2011.
Chelsea have identified a striker as their number one transfer target this summer, with Diego Costa on the verge of completing a return to his former club Atletico Madrid.
The Premier League champions are likely to confirm the move in the coming days subject to the player agreeing personal terms and passing a medical.
Antonio Conte is set to take his summer spending close to £150million, following the additions of Antonio Rudiger and Tiemoue Bakayoko.
